Schools told to adopt fire safety norms

The Commissioner for Department of Public Instruction has directed all the schools - government, aided and unaided - to comply with fire safety measures.

In a press release, the commissioner has said that all schools should compulsorily instal fire extinguishers in accordance with a Supreme Court directive.

All schools must install a fire extinguisher with ISI mark at each block of their buildings at the earliest, the commissioner has said. The department has warned of stringent action for non-compliance.
