The Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee has urged the State government to carry out a thorough probe into Pakistan flag hoisting incident in Sindhagi in Bijapur district and to bring the real culprits under scanner.

Staging a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday, the district Congress leaders criticised the State government for not willing to take up a serious probe into the incident and for not bringing the culprits to the limelight.

Addressing the protesters, District Congress Committee President Ramanath Rai said that the government should take action against the anti-social elements which are disturbing peaceful society.
“The unity and harmony of the nation which the Congress government has built in the nation should be preserved,” he said.

Congress leader Ivon D’Souza said that though the State police have stated that Sri Ram Sene was behind the incident, they have not made it to the public the actual people who were behind the incident. By arresting a few Sri Ram Sene members, the police work is not over, but they should bring the real culprits to the fore,” he said.

MLA Abhaychandra Jain said that he would raise the matter in the Assembly. MLA U T Khader, Congress leader Vijay Kumar Shetty and others were present.
