India’s stand-in skipper Virender Sehwag said on Monday that the current crop of Australian pace attack was the best he has faced in a long time.

“I think they are bowling in good areas. They are not giving easy balls to hit boundaries, and they are playing with your patience. I think this is the best bowling attack I’ve ever seen and, especially against Australia, because generally when I played in the past, I’ll get couple of balls in early overs to hit the boundary but, in this attack, I hardly get a ball to hit,” Sehwag said.

As a batsman, Sehwag said, he needed to show a little more patience while playing against the Australian pacers. “I think I have to show some patience against the bowling attack because if I show some patience maybe I’ll get some balls to hit for boundaries, but it’s a challenge. It’s a great bowling attack that everyone loves to play against. Whenever you do well against Australia people will appreciate your performances,” he said.

The Delhi Dasher said captaincy has not put any extra pressure on him. “I don’t think there is any pressure on me when I’m doing captaincy because recently I have done against the West Indies and scored a double hundred. It’s just the responsibility as a senior player to go there and handle the team and concentrate on your batting. So, hopefully I’ll do well in this game also,” he said.
Sehwag said there were no retirement talks in the dressing room, especially in the case of senior batsman VVS Laxman.

“They will take the call when they want to retire. So, we are not discussing anything in the dressing room. And Laxman is looking forward to this Test match because he’s up for it, and he’s practicing hard in the nets.”

However, Sehwag said it was disappointing not to do well in England and Australia. “I felt bad because we’ve done well overseas in the last ten years and suddenly last two tours we are not doing well. So, we are not living up to expectations. But we are doing everything what we can. But sometimes these things are not in your control,” he noted.

Sehwag also revealed the 12-member squad for the Adelaide Test.
“Not eleven but we have decided twelve. Dhoni is banned, and Vinay Kumar is out. Ashwin and Ojha are in.

The eleven depends on the state of the pitch tomorrow morning. If we think that wicket is dry enough, and there is help for spinners then we’ll definitely go with two spinners.”
