Vedike challenges cops

“We stand by each and every word delivered by Hindu leaders in the taluk-level Hindu Samajothsava which was held on January 22 at Uppinangadi. Police department can arrest all of us if we are wrong,” Hindu Hitharakshana Vedike Mangalore unit Chief Secretary Harish Achar has challenged the police department.

Addressing the reporters on Tuesday, Harish Achar said that it was a well planned attack on Hindu youth. “As much as 2000 Muslim youth gathered on that day in Masjid. There was neither prayer nor any function on that day. It was planned to disturb the peaceful environment,” he said.

About the speech of Hindu leaders, he said that Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat spoke about the problems being faced by the Hindu community in recent years. “Harassment on Hindu girls, kidnap, slaughtering the cows, love jihad and other issues were discussed in the meet, it was not against any community,” Achar explained.

“Hindu youth were attacked by the anonymous people just after the Samajothsava and some people shouted slogans like ‘Pakistan jindabad,’ but police did not take any action. Police filed FIR against Hindu leaders. We condemn the partiality of the department,” he said. “We have submitted a list of 50 anonymous people who are not from Uppinangadi, to police department and expecting investigation by the department,” he added.
