Vidya to do Lavani item number in 'Ferrari Ki Sawari'

After gyrating sultrily to songs like 'Ooh La La' and 'Naak Mukka' in her latest release 'The Dirty Picture', actress Vidya Balan is all set to do a lavani item song for Vidhu Vinod Chopra's forthcoming film 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari'.

After trying almost nine forms, Vidya and the creative team - Chopra and director Rajesh Mapuskar chose Lavani, a Maharashtrian folk dance. Vidya would take about three weeks to rehearse and get into the nuances of the dance form.

Lavani seems to be in trend currently as even Katrina Kaif has performed a Lavani item song 'Chikni Chameli' in upcoming film 'Agneepath' which has become quite a rage across the country. "We have finally short listed and are keen to do a Lavani in 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari'. Vidya too is extremely excited and would rehearse extensively for three weeks. Katrina's dance is inspiring for us to do better," Mapuskar said.

With this Lavani number Vidya joins a long list of B-town actresses including Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone to have performed item numbers. 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari', starring Sharman Joshi, releases on April 27.
