Former Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, who has obtained bail on health grounds, will be travelling to London on January 27 to seek treatment for cancer.

The former minister is implicated in the KIADB land scam case, along with his son Katta Jagadish and others. Katta Subramanya, who skipped appearing at the Special Lokayukta Court on Wednesday, is supposed to be meet his doctor on January 29. His counsel submitted that Katta was presently residing in Bangalore and was too unwell to attend the court proceedings.

In early December 2011, Katta had sought bail stating that he had to leave for London, as he had an appointment with the doctors at the Royal Free Hampstead Hospital on December 19. The court had subsequently allowed him to travel abroad and even allowed Katta Jagadish to accompany him.

On Wednesday, Judge N K Sudhindra Rao sought to know why Katta had not travelled earlier as informed to the Court, and why he had rescheduled his appointment despite being granted permission to seek treatment. However, Katta’s counsel had no satisfactory answer to the question.

Retired KAS officer T P Muninarayanappa has filed an application seeking de-freezing of one of his bank accounts. BBMP member M Gopi failed to attend the hearing as he was touring the country as part of a BBMP tour. The matter has been adjourned to February 25.
