When it comes to people-friendly policing, superintendent of police R Dileep says; we are duty bound to do so in a democratic set up.

  Those with grievances can either contact him on his cellphone or forward an SMS. They (grievance holders) are also welcome any time, but during office hours at his office, says the SP though the official meeting hours in a day is from 3 pm to 4 pm.

In an interaction with the media, a first after taking charge of the district police, the SP appealed to the people to pass on the information without any fear. However, he wanted the people with grievances to make their identity clear at least to him. ‘Moogarji beda’ (no anonymous letters), clarified the SP.

Saying that policing differs in every taluks, the SP stressed on dealing with human trafficking that is unabated especially in tribal dominated taluks. With H D Kote in the taluk here having tribals in large, police will keep tab on child marriages and trafficking too.

Replying to a query, he said measures will be initiated to inspect two-wheelers in the villages, as most of them are suspected to be stolen vehicles.

Guarding vital installations especially industrial area in Nanjangud, welfare of police and their families, strengthening of special branches (SB) where men are involved in gathering intelligence and also improving coordination among all the intelligence units- city, district, state and central are his other priorities.

The intelligence wing will be equipped with digital cameras to disseminate vital informations along with photographs, he said.
