RSS chastises Rajnath for 'leakages'

Last Updated 29 August 2009, 19:26 IST

Singh, who met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat this week at his Jhadewalan office, was “chastised” for precipitating many “unavoidable developments” in the party, sources told Deccan Herald.

The Sangh chief was particularly cross with Singh on the “leakages of letters” addressed to him recently by dissidents Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie. The meeting of Singh with Bhagwat lasted more than an hour. The hurried expulsion of Jaswant Singh and the handling of Vasundhara Raje issue also did not receive the approval of the RSS.

Raje has defied the party president by not resigning as the leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly. It is understood that Singh had been asked not to make any public comments on the party affairs. The BJP president has, of late, not been answering any queries relating to the current developments in the party.

Singh was appointed BJP chief as “a compromise candidate” with the approval of the RSS. His term ends this year and he is expected to step down to the pave way for a new party head.
