JOIN USA private complaint was filed on Wednesday in the Special Lokayukta Court against M S Somalingappa, the legislator of Siruguppa in Bellary district, accusing him of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to the complaint filed by B Eranna, a retired lecturer, the MLA had declared assets totalling Rs 76.99 lakh in his declarations before the Lokayukta from 2004 up to March 2011 and in the affidavits that he had filed along with his nomination papers in 2004 and 2008.
However, the income was shown as Rs 13.30 lakh in the same declaration.
The complaint claims that one particular property in Siruguppa has been undervalued at Rs nine lakh, while the market value is Rs 45 lakh. The counsel for the complainant Murthy D Naik submitted that a total of Rs 63 lakh, excluding the undervalued property, was unaccounted for.
The matter has been posted for orders on February 6 for admissibility.
