Every morning before leaving for office, Roshni Agarwal flips through newspapers.

No, she does not do that to keep herself updated with all the national and international happenings, but to know how her day is going to be like. Roshni is an avid reader of the daily horoscope.

There are many like Roshni for whom reading their daily horoscope is part of routine. Some read it out of habit, some out of faith and some just for fun. Some even plan their day accordingly. Then there are those who also read horoscope at the end of the day to know how true the prediction was.

“I love reading my horoscope. I read it every day without giving it a miss as I have firm faith in it. It is definitely not 100 per cent true, but it certainly gives me an indication about how my day can go,” says Roshni, who works as a customer care executive at a telecom company. According to her, reading the horoscope gives her a guideline for the entire day. “If it is mentioned in my horoscope that I might get into fight with somebody, I try not to speak too much,” she shares.

There are people who take out time from their busy schedule to read their daily horoscope from more than one newspaper. For instance Harsh Makhija, who is preparing for his banking exams says, “There are so many people in this world with same zodiac sign. So, I read my horoscope not just in one newspaper or website but on several of them. It helps me know which one is more accurate,” he says.

Harsh’s belief in horoscopes has increased with time. “There were so many incidents which made my belief in horoscope stronger. Once, I was having pain in my eyes and I could not understand the reason. Then I read my horoscope which said that due to some planetary effect, there will be pain in eyes,” Harsh recalls.

He reads his horoscope not only at the beginning of the day, but also towards the end. He says, “What I read is not always true, but it gives me an idea of what lies ahead. In fact, I read it at the end of the day to match my day’s happening with what was predicted,” he says.

But for some reading their daily horoscope is a fun exercise. Public Relation professional Swati Soni says that she checks out her horoscope almost every day, but not because she has a strong belief in it.

“I read my horoscope for fun. It is not that I take it seriously but if there is a word of caution in it, I keep that in mind,” she says.

Others read their horoscope out of habit. “Who will not be interested in knowing their future? I read my horoscope whenever I read newspaper. I don’t have faith in it but it is exciting and entertaining,” says Amit Sharma, who works at an IT company.
