Support for Yuvi

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni wished speedy recovery for Yuvraj Singh, who is undergoing treatment for cancer in the United States.

"I don't know about his illness because I haven't been in touch. He is a pleasure to have in the side and we wish him speedy recovery. He is one among the few players who has been good at number six and then climbed to do well at number four.

"He is someone who could change the momentum of the game. He could block and also take the aggressive option, also we can’t forget his bowling. People call him pie-chucker but he is very effective," Dhoni told reporters at the MCG after India’s defeat to Australia in the first match of the triangular series.

Meanwhile in New Delhi, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla said the Board was aware of Yuvraj’s ailment and has been extending full support to the cricketer.

“We are concerned about his health and we wish him a speedy recovery. We hope that he will regain full fitness and comeback,” Shukla said.

Meanwhile, well-known personalities from all walks of life wished Yuvraj a speedy recovery. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, an avid cricket follower, extended his good wishes to the cricketer.

“Here’s wishing Yuvraj Singh a speedy and complete recovery,” Omar wrote on his twitter account. “On a good day there are few cricketers more exciting than him,” he added.

Tennis player Rohan Bopanna also wished him luck. “Wishing Yuvraj Singh a speedy recovery, all our prayers and good wishes are with him,” said Bopanna.

The middle-order batsman’s team-mate, paceman S Sreesanth said, “It’s sad to hear Yuvraj’s ailment. Health is very important and I wish him very speedy recovery.”
