Falak's mom brought to Capital from Rajasthan?

Last Updated 05 February 2012, 18:56 IST

A woman believed to be the mother of two-year-old girl Falak, who was admitted to AIIMS trauma centre on January 18, has been reportedly brought to Delhi from Rajasthan. However, senior police officials deny any such development in the case.

Several police teams have been looking for a woman identified as Munni, who may be Falak’s mother, for the last two weeks.

While sources in the police department said Munni was traced from Baran district in Rajasthan, and was brought to Delhi on Sunday morning, a senior police officer said, “She has not been brought to the Capital.”

Sources said Munni, who hails from Bihar, is also a victim of human-trafficking. “Munni told certain people that a woman from Haryana allegedly sold her for Rs 2.7 lakh to a man in Rajasthan. Then he married her. She also said her husband was involved in criminal activities, which is why she left him,” said a source privy to the investigation.

The source said police are questioning Munni about her background. “Police are asking how she came to Delhi and went to Rajasthan. Police also want to know who is Falak’s father,” said the source.
When a police team went to Munni’s house on Saturday, they showed Falak’s photographs, after which she reportedly accepted that Falak was her daughter.

She also said she had a son, who has been sold to another person, said the source.

However, deputy commissioner of police (south) Chhaya Sharma said there has been no such development.
