This macho man’s kitty is full this year. With three new movies titled Chai Garam, Shooter and Enemy coming up soon, actor Sunil Shetty believes that action movies will always be successful in India.

Recently in the City, Metrolife discovers more about this “action-packed” hero.  Sunil started his career with action films, but now seems to have settled for comic roles. Ever since his performance in Priyadarshan’s mega hit Hera Pheri, producers have been keen to make the most of his comic talent.

As a producer, he set up a production company called Popcorn Motion Pictures Ltd, which produced films like Khel – No Ordinary Game, Rakht: What If You Can See the Future and Bhagam Bhag. Besides Bollywood he has appeared in the English film Don’t Stop Dreaming in 2007 and Tamil film 12B.

He also owns some hotels specialising in Udupi cuisine and a clothing boutique named Mischief.

Bollywood’s offcial “He-Man” feels equally strongly for action movies too. “The huge success of recent films such as Singham and Dabangg is the biggest proof of how the business of films runs in India. Action films will never be out of fashion here,” says Sunil.

While sharing his career plans he says, “ I am planning to take a break from films for two to three years  so I could concentrate on my other business ventures. I also have my production house to take care of so I want to concentrate on new scripts for upcoming projects.”

The Bollywood star, known as a “gentle guy”, with a down-to-earth attitude also reveals that soon he will launch his son and daughter in Bollywood in his upcoming home production. And like their father, his 16-year-old son Ahan and 19-year-old daughter Athiya also share the same passion for Bollywood. He says, “It should not be a surprise if our children are joining the film industry and performing well.”

Sunil said that he will never try his hands in direction and will be confined to acting and film production.

“The aim behind my home productions was never to earn lot a of money but a clear intention of giving a variety of movies to my fans. I don’t compare myself with anyone as a producer,” he signs off.
