A new name will be suggested for the post of Lokayukta and the appointment process will begin in two days, said Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda.

He was speaking to mediapersons at the helipad at Government College ground here on Tuesday.

Gowda arrived in helicopter to take part in the valedictory of the Taralabalu Hunnime Mahotsava.
Replying to a question,
Gowda said a suitable name for Lokayukta post would be suggested after consultation with the State party president, Legislative Assembly Speaker, the two leaders of the Opposition and a High Court judge.

Separate agri budget
A separate Agriculture budget is a must, said Gowda, who reiterated that the government was pro farmer in approach.

The government is ready to present a separate budget, said Gowda who questioned the veracity of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president’s remark that last year’s funds were unutilised.

Reacting sharply to the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Parameshwara’s remark that former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa would not allow him to complete the tenure, Gowda said that Congressmen were daydreaming and their statements were just a rehash from the past.

On the issue of Central Empowered Committee report on illegal mining in the State, Gowda said that government would soon file an affidavit in the Supreme Court.

He said there was no question of protecting people who were involved in rampant illegal mining, destroying environment and forest.
