Tips and tricks

During recession, everyone is doing their bit to cut costs or reap maximum benefits out of what they possess. Keeping that in mind on their first anniversary, Estee Lauder, a cosmetic brand, invited women from various fields for a special session on make-up tips and tricks.

Manjusha Maheshwari, who held the champagne reception, said that after speaking to a lot of women, she realised that many ended up buying the wrong kind of beauty products. “The afternoon is all about women trying to get tips on how to buy the right kind of skin care product and how to gain the maximum from their make-up,” she added.

With champagne glasses in hand, the women went to the various counters and experienced the various signature services. Along with that, the afternoon also witnessed Matthew Tyler, Regional Education Manager, Middle East and India, demonstrate three different looks — classic, romantic and dramatic — on the guests. “Best make-up begins with the best skin. For that, one has to make sure that the skin is cared for really well,” said Matthew during the session. There surely was a lot of chemistry between the colours and the champagne. The fun interactive session saw many women, both young and old, eagerly taking notes, giggling to inside jokes and interacting with Matthew while he was demonstrating the make-up on the volunteers.

One of the common difficulties during make-up faced by the women present was picking the right kind of foundation and applying it evenly through out the face and neck. “To apply the foundation evenly one can use a technique called the ‘Foundation Flower’ wherein one can start applying it in circular motion starting from the centre of the flower that is the nose,” he said while explaining that even the application of the eye shadow was another common problem that he heard many women complain about.
