Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Motamma on Friday defended herself by stating her recent statements pertaining to Mysore University research scholar Sarita had been misinterpreted by the media.

Motamma also said that professor Shivabasavaiah, who has been accused of sexually harassing Sarita, should be sacked if he has wronged.

She claimed that she had made a reference to a woman in the film ‘Gandhi Smiles’, and had not implied that Sarita had made a mistake.

The Congress leader said that in the film the woman is sexually exploited by a married man, and that she had compared this to the incident where a woman was raped by a Kushalnagar school principal Panduranga.
