Govt not to recall Upa Lokayukta

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs S Suresh Kumar has denied any lapses in the appointment of Justice Chandrashekaraiah as Upa Lokayukta.

“The rule that the Chief Justice should be consulted on appointment of Upa Lokayukta is interpreted in several ways. The concurrence of the Governor had been sought before proceeding further with the appointment,” the minister said here on Saturday.

Suresh Kumar said Upa Lokayukta can be removed only through an impeachment motion and the government had no such plans.
