Govt not to recall Upa Lokayukta

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs S Suresh Kumar has denied any lapses in the appointment of Justice Chandrashekaraiah as Upa Lokayukta.

“The rule that the Chief Justice should be consulted on appointment of Upa Lokayukta is interpreted in several ways. The concurrence of the Governor had been sought before proceeding further with the appointment,” the minister said here on Saturday.

Suresh Kumar said Upa Lokayukta can be removed only through an impeachment motion and the government had no such plans.    
  
Planning authorities

The minister said city planning authorities will be constituted in ten districts to form layouts and allot sites to middle class and economically weaker section. They will be set up in the districts such as Kodagu, where land is not available for formation of layouts.

A final decision will be taken at a meeting of the chairpersons of all the urban development authorities in Chitradurga on February 15.

The Speaker has ordered an inquiry by a Joint House committee into the allegations that the three former ministers were watching obscene video clippings when the House was in session. Only after receiving the report, action can be taken against them, he said.
