CBI today applied to a local court, seeking permission to question suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi and former Director of Mines and Geology Department (Andhra Pradesh) V D Rajagopal in connection with corruption allegations against Kadapa MP, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

The agency has sought permission for examining them at the Chanchalguda jail, on the ground that it had collected some documents from the Mines and Geology Department, which had been processed by the two officers.

The two were arrested in the illegal mining case involving Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy last year, on the charge of abusing the official position and favouring the company. At present both are in judicial custody, and lodged in Chanchalguda Central Prison.

The court would hear the plea on February 16. In another development, the court extended the judicial custody of V Vijay Sai Reddy, vice-chairman of Jagati Publications Pvt Ltd (JPPL), arrested by CBI last month in connection with the alleged disproportionate assets of Jaganmohan Reddy, till February 21.
