The complainant, Lingaraju, the father of the victim - Nitin - mentioned two car numbers. But neither of them matched with the make of the car, said the police.

The police contacted the car manufacturing company’s local office in Bangalore seeking details.

Occupants of the White Honda City car chased Lingaraju’s car and someone from the car fired two rounds from  an air pistol. Two pellets hit Nitin who was seated next to the driver.
The suspects fled towards Sankey Road. Nitin was taken to a nearby hospital from where he was shifted to Nimhans.
