Army Green held their calm and pulled of a stunning 8-7 win over Sports Authority of India in the second semifinal of the Field Marshall Cariappa memorial hockey tournament that went down to sudden death at the KSHA stadium on Friday.
Army Green, who equalised through Romen in the 55th minute after Darshan struck for SAI in the 34th, were successful in all five attempts during the tie breaker, and so were SAI. In the sudden death, Army Green converted both their goals while Deepak fluffed a shot at goal for SAI.
In the other semifinal, MEG ‘A’ posted a less dramatic 3-1 win over KSP. KSP took the through Satish in the 12th but Sagaya equalised for MEG. Siraj (32nd) and Subramani (60th) then found the net for Sappers.
