The Supreme Court on Friday asked different state governments to spell out its plan for proper rehabilitation of the rescued sex workers in coordination with the experts committee formed to suggest measures in this regard.

“What are the mode and the manner in identifying those sex workers who were willing to leave the trade? After their rescue, where would they go,” a Bench of Justices Altamas Kabir and Gyan Sudha Misra asked.

The court suggested that the statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code should immediately be recorded after rescuing sex workers and there should be plans ready for providing vocational training to them.

The panel headed by senior advocates Pradeep Ghosh and Jayant Bhushan told the court that the committee was going to hold a workshop on Saturday where all stake holders including sex workers and NGOs would discuss with the state government representatives on the rehabilitation plan.
