Baljit getting better

Last Updated 01 September 2009, 16:17 IST

“I met him (Dr Morris) yesterday (Monday). He did laser on my operated eye. As for the progress, now I am able to see images and colours. I could identify orange colour, red and green,” Baljit told PTI from Alabama, US on Tuesday.

Baljit, who had damaged his right eye while training with a golf ball in July, said the doctor has sealed his retina by laser but it would still take some time to fathom the percentage of improvement. “Laser was done to treat the retina and seal the retina. Doctor says that there has been progressive improvement. However, it will take some more time to analyse the percentage of vision,” the hockey player said.

Baljit’s close friend and Indian Oil Corporation clubmate Inderjit Chadda, who accompanied the player’s father to Alabama, said the next meeting with the doctor is scheduled on next Monday. “Baljit is happy about the progress in his vision. Last week he was seeing objects like shadows. After laser treatment yesterday, he is able to see images and also identify colours. God willing, Baljit will fulfil his dream of playing in the World Cup in Delhi.”
