Porngate:Palemar confident of emerging clean

Last Updated 20 February 2012, 20:21 IST

Former minister Krishna Palemar, accused in the porngate scandal, said on Monday that he had not committed any mistake and that he would be cleared of all the charges by the seven-member House committee constituted by the Speaker.

Speaking to reporters who met him at his house, he said: “The people of my constituency know me. Those who have levelled allegations against me will repent for their mistake.”
Reply to Speaker’s notice.

“I have replied to the Speaker’s notice. I cannot reveal details of my reply now as the inquiry by the seven-member committee is on. I work according to my conscience. My conscience tells me that I have not committed any mistake.”

“To avoid embarrassment to my party and the government, I resigned from my post. Unnecessarily, allegations have been levelled against me. I am also hurt by the way the media reacted during the incident. It took a lot of time for me to come out of the shock. Hence, I could not visit my district all these days.”

“The people of my constituency will not let me down. They are confident that I will come out clean. With that confidence, I am entering the constituency. It is left to the party high command to induct me back into the Cabinet, after I get a clean chit from the inquiry committee.”
