Youth murdered, man found dead

A youth was stabbed to death over a petty fight near Mudalapalya Circle in Chandra Layout on Monday night.

Ravi, 26, a cab driver and a resident of Kamakshipalya, died after he sustained severe injuries. Mahesh, Ravi’s accomplice suffered major injuries and is being treated at a private hospital.

Ravi, along with Mahesh and another friend, went to a roadside eatery run by Kempanna.

Ravi picked a fight after the owner told them to wait as food was being cooked. Passersby intervened and chased the threesome.

However, past midnight, Ravi and his gang, in an inebriated state returned to the spot and started throwing the cooking equipment to the road. Kempanna’s son Kantha called his friends and the two groups fought. One of them stabbed Ravi in the thigh. A profusely bleeding Ravi died on the way to hospital.

The cops have detained Srikanth, Pradeep, Chandan and others for interrogation.

In another incident, the body of a 35-year-old habitual drinker was found with his throat slit near Lakshmipura at Laggere in Rajagopal Nagar.

Venkatesh, a native of Tamil Nadu, is the victim. Police said Venkatesh’s family had deserted him a decade ago because of his drinking habit.

He was also thrown out his brother’s house for the same reason.

Venkatesh under the influence of alcohol quarreled over trivial issues, said police who suspect it to be the reason behind his murder.
