JOIN USMonday night was at its febrile best, for Prasad Bidapa was all set to launch his new models. Ten girls and twenty boys, carefully chosen, walked the ramp for three separate slots.
The models, all well-tamed and groomed by the fashion guru himself, seemed like they were willing to bare all to go places and make it big in the fashion world. They had rehearsed their steps well and catwalked till they got every move right. There was perfect synchronisation with the music.
While choreographer Kevin Oliver trained the models, Satya of Nritarutya made sure that the boys and girls got their body movements and grooves right. Rathan Thakore Grant held theatre workshops for them. “It’s an annual event where we pick out the fresh faces for the year. They are put through a series of rigorous training sessions and we constantly keep them on the boil. They’re exposed to a lot of shows and are given a couple of assignments for a year or two until they’re ready for the big ramp,” Prasad Bidapa told Metrolife.
The judges did seem impressed with the new models. They thought that they needed more polish and finesse. Bangalore’s top model Priya Nayak, one of the judges observed that it’s great to tap the potential and talent of the young. “But grooming is an important aspect of modelling. I think the new faces must put in more effort and hard work rather than assume that they can be a model once they walk the ramp,” said Priya.
She thinks that without dedication and a certain amount of seriousness, no model can be successful. Zoheb Yusuf, a model trainer said that while the new faces have tremendous potential, there could be room for improvement and that will come only with experience.
Ameet Sharma and Kritika Babu were declared the winners.
