Revenue minister takes a round of Capital's disaster response centres

Delhi revenue minister A K Walia on Wednesday took a round of Delhi Fire Service Disaster Management Centre and East District Disaster Management Centre to get first-hand information on availability of equipment meant to effectively deal with any disaster situation.

“I have directed the concerned agencies to work in tandem so that all loose ends could be taken care to ensure an effective disaster management mechanism in the capital.

“The agencies have also been asked to finalise their requirement of advanced equipment to keep themselves fully prepared to meet any disaster challenge,” said Walia.

Walia inspected rescue responders, rescue tenders, nuclear and chemical disaster equipment, rescue and search equipment and hazmat and emergency appliances van on his visit to the fire station at Lakshmi Nagar and East District's Disaster Management Centre located at Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Divisional commissioner Vijay Dev, additional secretary revenue and other senior officers accompanied the minister on his rounds.
