<p>The Vice-Chancellor was addressing students after inaugurating the classes for the academic year 2009-’10.<br /><br />“Engineers have a huge role to play in improving the quality of people’s lives. Whether it is in the construction of houses and bridges, or in writing new computer programmes; whether it is in the electrical, civil, mechanical or chemical fields; engineers can help make life better. That is why you have to understand the social importance of this profession,” he advised the students.<br /><br />“Along with learning, inculcate an interest in reading.
