Delhi police arrested seven persons in a racket involving fake recruitment of teachers in Municipal Corporation Of Delhi (MCD) schools on contract basis, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, the teachers appointed in three primary MCD schools did not meet the eligibility and qualification requirement of the post.

“Kanwar Singh, Deputy Director of Education, Civil Line area of north Delhi filed a complaint regarding the suspicious appointment letters of three MCD Primary School teachers on contract basis -- Sachin and Sanjeev who were posted at D Block, and Suresh posted at K block, in Jahangirpuri MCD schools. Singh claimed that the letters were forged,” said Romil Baaniya, additional Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Based on the compliant, Sachin, Sanjeev Kumar, Suresh, were nabbed.

Investigation led to the arrest of four more such fake teachers -- Ashok, Aftab, Sunil Kumar and Santosh teaching in various primary level MCD schools.

“During interrogation three teachers confessed that they didn't qualify the eligibility requirement for the post. However, they were desperately looking for a job,” said Baaniya.Further Interrogation led to disclosure of names of people involved in the fake appointment of teachers racket.

“We found out that the teachers came in contact with two Haryana residents.

They convinced the “fake teachers” to pay money in turn to get a job of teacher on contract basis in MCD School in Delhi. The arrested persons also revealed that the key planner in this racket is Ashok, a teacher himself in an MCD school in  Wazirabad,” said the official.

Copy of letter
According to police, the racketeers managed to get a copy of the appointment letter format. “They then issued these letters to the interested parties. The letters contained the false and forged signature of Singh,” added the official.

Five of the fake teachers are 12th pass, one is a graduate and another has a post graduate degree. “We are trying to find the racketeers now,” said an official.
