Maoists will not be tolerated, says DVS

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that the government will not tolerate Maoists and their activities at any cost.  The government is determined to curb Maoists menace in the state by taking stringent measures.

Speaking at a public rally here at Hosmaru, the CM said naxals have a wrong notion of achieving success using gun. They are ignorant of the fact that they can achieve nothing through revolvers, rifles and violence.

However, Maoists activities are against democratic principles and is a threat to the process of democracy.

“A report is submitted in Lok Sabha on the presence of Naxals in the state in the past. However, the Maoists activities are under control now. The development work has been taken up on priority basis in Maoists infested areas. The development work in these areas will be a continuous process.”

BJP to win

Stating that the result of Udupi-Chickmagalur Lok Sabha poll will be a shocking to the so called friends of Sonia Gandhi, the CM said that the party is confident of winning the election. He said that  Mangalore-Karwar day train was possible only due to the efforts of the BJP government and the night train for the same route is possible if the party candidate is chosen to power.

He said Kadur-Chikmagalur train will be chugging on the track within three months.

Alleging that the UPA government has utterly failed to protect the interests of the needy and also work towards implementing development projects, Gowda said “I will invite the Congress members to a forum to debate over their failures as a ruling party in the centre”.

Amendment

The CM said the amendments to the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter And Preservation Of Cattle Bill 2010 will be made following the directions from the President’s office and will be presented in the next Assembly session.

Later speaking at a meeting organised by the Udupi District Taximen and Auto Rickshaw Drivers Association in Udupi, the CM promised to take up all the demands put-forth by the members of the Taximen and Auto Rickshaw Drivers Association. He said Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act is implemented on a pilot basis in four districts. The Act will be strictly implemented in all 30 districts across the state on April 2. He said the state government has taken up measures to upgrade roads in rural areas.

A sum of Rs 10 crore is released for each assembly constituency in Udupi district to develop roads. The CM informed that the four-laning of the national highway stretch from Suratkal-Kundapur will be completed in the next one and half years.
