The District Sessions Court on Thursday, awarded death sentence to Erappa Siddappa Muruganna for raping and murdering a five-year-old girl, two years ago. The judgement is the first of its kind in the district court’s history.
Sessions Judge R J Satish Singh pronounced the order.
Erappa, on the pretext of buying biscuits for her, took the girl away from home in Khanapur of Naragund taluk on December 28, 2010. He is accused of raping and murdering her and disposed of her body at Bennihalla. Nargund police inspector Vijay Kumar Taluwar had submitted the charge sheet. S R Shindhe argued for the government.
