Residents of Nandini Layout held a protest march here on Thursday against BWSSB for not supplying water to their area for the past one year.

The protestors, led by Mahalakshmi Layout MLA N L Narendra Babu, said despite several complaints, the Board officials have failed to solve their problem.

“There are over 28,000 water connections in Nandini Layout and surrounding areas and nearly 8,000 consumers with connections do not receive regular water supply.  The problem is severe in areas located in the lower reaches where water never reaches the pipelines,” he added.

Areas like Parimala Nagar, Kanteerava Nagar, Marappana Palya, Vijayananda Nagar, West of Chord Road I stage, Srinivasa Nagar, Sakamma Layout, Shakthi Ganapathi Nagar, Bhovi Palya and surrounding areas do not receive water, the protestors said. The borewells in these areas do not yield water and BWSSB brings just one tanker of water for distribution, said Narendra Babu.

However, BWSSB engineer-in-chief, T Venkataraju denied  any shortage of supply to Nandini Layout. He promised to solve the problem related to pipelines located in the downstream.
