The Hyderabad metro railway project hit a roadblock on Thursday as the Andhra Pradesh High Court stayed the construction on one of the three corridors following objection from civil society groups.
Responding a to petitions filed by activists and environmentalists, Justice L Narasimha Reddy ordered suspension of construction till the case is disposed.
The petitioners contended that the authorities had changed alignment of the corridors without taking the consent of the locals.
The petitions were filed by the Joint Action Committee of Greenlands, Ameerpet, Madhuranagar, Yusufguda, Srikrishnanagar and 20 other areas.
