Govt will give Rs 1 cr for Vishwa Tulu Sammelana: Acharya

The events will be held at 7 places in 3 districts

Vishwa Tulu Sammelana Samiti Honourary President Dr D Veerendra Heggade, who chaired the meet, said that cultural, literary programmes, debates and workshops will be organised prior to Vishwa Tulu Sammelana at seven places in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod districts between September 19 and November 29. Literary meets will be organised under the aegis of Central Institute for Indian Languages (CIIL) at Karkala on September 19 and 20. Programme on Tulu proverbs will be held at Bantwal on October 10 while debates on current affairs will be held in Mangalore on October 31, Heggade informed.
Discussions on Tulu culture and religious rituals will be held at Moodbidri on November 7, while debate on Tuluva costumes and traditional medicines will be organised at Udupi on November 21, Heggade said. Programmes will also be held at Puttur/Sullia on November 28 and in Kasaragod on November 29, he said adding that programmes will be organised with a title ‘Kode-Ini-Elle’ (Yesterday-Today-Tomorrow).

Rs 1 crore fom govt
Home Minister Dr V S Acharya announced in the meeting that the government will sanction Rs 1 crore for the Vishwa Tulu Sammelana.
Samiti Secretary Dr B Yashovarma said that a souvnir will be released on the occasion of Vishwa Tulu Sammelana. Samiti invites entries suggesting a suitable title for the souvenir from interested people, he said adding that the entries should reach the Secretary, Vishwa Tulu Sammelana Office, Ujire - 574 240 before September 20.

Further, he said that those who would like to work voluntarily for the success of the Sammelana can register their names before September 13.
District-in-Charge Minister J Krishna Palemar, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy chairman Palthadi Ramakrishna Achar, Alva’s Education Trust chairman Dr M Mohan Alva and Additional Deputy Commissioner Prabhakar Sharma were present.
