Man shot at by relative dies

A 35-year-old man - shot at by his brother-in-law in a scuffle at Bismillah Nagar on Friday night - died at the Sagar Apollo Hospital at 3 am on Saturday.

The accused is Aslam Pasha, the 37-year-old brother-in-law of the victim, Jamshed Sharief.

Aslam, Akram and Amjad, brothers of the victim’s wife Asma, came visiting to her house at 8 pm.

They were there to counsel the couple, who were married for four years and had a marital discord as they had no children. A scuffle ensued between the brothers and Sharief. 

In a fit of rage, Aslam is alleged to have fired from his 0.32 licensed revolver. While two rounds were fired, one bullet hit Sharief below the shoulder bone. Sharief was rushed to a hospital, where he died. The brothers and Sharief were dealers in factory scrap.

A case has been registered at the Mico Layout police station. Aslam has been arrested.  

13 held for murder

A 28-year-old woman and a 12-member gang have been arrested for the murder of a woman on February 27. 

The suspect, Savitha, had allegedly given a ‘supari’ to the gang to murder Nirmala, 42, as she believed the latter had an affair with her husband Ramesh. 

The gang was given Rs 14 lakh for the job, said the police. They have seized Rs 1.15 lakh cash, jewellery worth Rs 3.25 lakh, a car, two autorickshaws and lethal weapons from the contract killers - Basappa, 22, Shankar, 24, Ravi, 25, Prasanna, 20, Manoj, 23, Sunil, 23, Muruga, 19, Subramani, 22, Kishan Kumar, 20, J Yesu, 19, and Anil Kumar, 29.
