Last Updated 25 March 2012, 18:19 IST

Union Minister for Corporate Affairs M Veerappa Moily said that the bad days of Congress have come to an end and the good days have begun.

Speaking at a programme organised by the Udupi district Congress to thank the voters and party workers here on Sunday, he said the good days of the Congress and the voters have come with the victory of the Congress candidate in Udupi-Chikmagalur bypoll. “The State government is filled with illegal activities and corruption. The Congress is secular,” he added.

Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Siddaramaiah said the people of this region are intellingent and have given their verdict intelligently.

“The constituency was strong with the communal elements. It was a constituency which had elected chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda. It was a prestigious constituency for the BJP. However, the voters shifted their preference and elected the Congress. The election would change the political activities of the State in the future,” he said.

The BJP leaders have violated all the values in politics and have shown their true colours. They observe vijayotsava when they go inside the jail and come out of the jail. The state Cabinet has already lost 11 of its ministers and Yogishwar and Murugesh Nirani are counting their days to go behind the bars. The BJP government has taken loan of Rs 60,000 crore in the last six years, he added.

MP Oscar Fernandes said that the Congress faced the election with micro planning system.

“The bypoll was an interesting event in the country. The voters have given a tough answer to the corrupt BJP government.” He said that he will help the Congress to build own office in Brahmavar and Kundapur.

KPCC President Dr G Parameshwar called upon the party workers to face the forthcoming general elections unitedly.

KPCC former president R V Deshpande, newly elected MP Jayaprakash Hegde and others were present.
