Deccan Herald had reported on Sulaiman’s problem in the news item ‘Road Accident in Jeddah derails family in Nellyadi’ on September 4. Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi’s Secretary Ismail, a Kannadiga, had contacted Sulaiman’s wife Jameela and collected the details. In fact, Ismail had asked her to send the copies of passport, visa and other details.

“We have sent all the details the ministry had asked for,” Jameela told Deccan Herald.
“The external affairs ministry has assured us that it will take up the matter with the Saudi Arabia External Affairs office. Minister Shashi Tharoor will also pressurise the Saudi government,” said Jameela’s relative.

In the meantime, Kannadigas in Saudi Arabia have decided to contact Sulaiman in jail. Jameela said that the family has received much emotional support from across the country. “Some people have even sent us a Ramzan kit,” she said.
