Rehan, Arhatha sparkle

Rehan powered home in 54.97 seconds to clinch the 100M butterfly gold.
The 23-year-old Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre swimmer went under the best Indian time of 57.22 set last year by his team-mate Aaron D’Souza.

Arhatha took the gold in the corresponding event in the women’s section in a record time of 1:03.92.  Her timing was even better than the national mark of 1:04.81 belonging to Richa Mishra. In the 50M butterfly, Shubha C from BAC recorded 28.67 to leave behind Arhatha (28.72) for the gold. In the process, she erased the time of 29.41 that stood in the name of Shikha Tandon.

Aaron set a new mark in the 50 fly. The BAC swimmer clocked 25.67 seconds for the gold, shaving off 0.45 seconds from the previous record.
