'Implement NREG scheme effectively'

She was speaking at the review meet held on the Zilla Panchayat premises. Gram Panchayat secretaries should prepare action plans to ensure proper implementation of the scheme, she said.

Funds under the NREG Scheme have been released for all the gram panchayats, she said adding that the funds should utilised properly and the works should be completed in time.

Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Department  Assistant Director B T Vinodamma said that  the district received 105.1 mm rain as against average 123.6 mm rains expected in by the end of August. However, the farming activities have been taken up and works on sowing and planting saplings are in progress. The chemical fertilisers have been supplied to the farmers, she added.

AEE H Chandraiah, addressing the meeting, said Motlur, Angarekanahalli, Boyinahalli, Adavigollavarahalli and Kolavanahalli villages are facing drinking water crisis. Borewells are being sunk in these villages to address the issue, he added.

ZP Vice-President C V Venkatesh, CEO N Krishnappa, Deputy Secretary Zulphikarulla, TP President Nalinagouda, Vice-President Gangadhar, ZP member A D Avulappa, G R Narayanaswamy and CEO Dr Ashwathappa were present.
