Eight killed in road accidents

Eight people were killed in four road accidents in four districts of North Karnataka, between Tuesday and Wednesday.

In a head-on collision between a truck and a motorbike, three motorcyclists were killed on the spot on the Pune-Bangalore National Highway at Sankeshwar in Hukkeri taluk on Tuesday. The dead have been identified as Rohit Havaldar (30), Anil Havaldar (32) and Chetan Kamble (28), all residents of Kanagla in Hukkeri.

In Bijapur

In another accident, two people died instantly and two sustained severe injuries when the car they were travelling in hit a lorry parked on the roadside near Babaleshwar village in Bijapur on Wednesday.

 The deceased are car driver Ramesh Shantanna Yadav (28) and Navashree N Prasad Naidu (15), both from Hyderabad. R Chinnababu Malagajjaiah (50), his wife R Rohini (40), were injured.

In Bagalkot

Rangappa Poojary (51) and Maruthi Managooli of Shikkeri in Bagalkot were killed when their multi-utility vehicle collided with a bus near Yadahalli on Tuesday. Four others were injured in the accident.

They were on their way to attend a marriage at Teggi village in Beelagi taluk.
B Jagadish (18), a resident of Kampli in Bellary, was mowed down by a goods carrier vehicle near Devasamudra Cross, while he was crossing the road.  He was rushed to VIMS Hospital where he died of injuries, police said.
