Sub-inspector suspended

A police sub-inspector attached to the VVIP security wing has been suspended after criminal cases were registered against him. 

Additional Commissioner of Police (law and order) T Suneel Kumar suspended Venkataramanappa with a departmental inquiry pending, based on a letter by DCP (VVIP security) and a report by HSR Layout police inspector. The top police brass felt that certain acts of Venkataramanappa tarnished the image of the department and brought disrepute to it, said Kumar. The SI allegedly encouraged his son Deepak to consume liquor and subject his wife Sowjanya (the couple stayed at Agara in HSR Layout) to mental and physical torture.

Venkataramanappa allegedly used to call up Sowjanya every day, pick a quarrel and abuse her in filthy language. 

A complaint was lodged against him with the HSR Layout police on February 23 and the police booked him under Sections 498 A (subjecting woman to cruelty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. He was accused number two in the case, stated Kumar.
