National film award winners felicitated

Recalling her rags-to-riches story, the talented actress told the audience: “I have come a long way from being a theatre artiste to a National Award winning actress".  She said that movies should be made based on novels which will also make sense to the audience.
On the occasion, Kannada and Culture Department Secretary Jayaramaraje Urs reiterated the department’s plans to create mini theatres to screen offbeat movies and extend 10 per cent subsidy to encourage such movies.

“Offbeat and art cinemas only win awards and bring laurels to the country, but they do not remain for a long time in people's mind,” said National Film award winner Prakash Raj.
He added that the director of the film is the actual soul of the cinema and not the actors. "My achievement is not great, there are many greater artistes than me" said the actor
Jnanpith award winner Girish Karnad, congratulating the national award winner, said that there is no doubt that both the actors are worth the awards, "If Umashree had not won, then there could have been doubts on the National Award jury itself", he said.
