Four huts, belonging to dailywage earners, at Dibbur in the taluk were gutted on Sunday night. The huts are suspected to have been set on fire by miscreants.
Legislator K P Bachegowda visited the site at Dibbur and consoled the workers, who lost most of their belongings, including foodgrains.
He promised that the guilty would be brought to book and also handed relief cheques to the workers.
Zilla Panchayat member P N Munegowda, Taluk Panchayat vice-president Venkatanarayanappa, members Krishnamurthy, Muniraju, Tahsildar Dr N Bhaskar and others were present on the occasion.
