Implementation of Animal Birth Control programme intensified

Municpality Commissioner S Kuppuswamy told reporters here today that trained persons were engaged yesterday to catch stray dogs and also stray pigs in wards within the municpality's jurisdiction The drive would continue, he said.

All stray dogs were being immunised under anti rabies immunisation scheme and Standard operation procedures for sterilsing them under the programme was being taken up. After immunisation, these dogs were being let into Muncipality maintained kennels at Odiansalai.

The municipality was also catching pigs and letting them go in some other areas
He said the municipality would soon sponsor 10 persons for training in Farizabad to catch stray animals. Currently persons from Tiruchirapalli trap the animals.
