Stir demanding sites, houses

Last Updated 08 May 2012, 17:38 IST

Activists of Karnataka Raitha Sangha and Karnataka Prantha Krishi Coolikarara Sangha have threatened a stir on Wednesday, demanding houses and sites for the homeless.

“Both Union and State governments have failed in implementing pro-people projects. No action has been taken to provide home for the homeless.

Moreover, there is negligence even to provide basic facilities,” said N R Ravichandra Reddy, Convener of Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha, speaking to Deccan Herald.”

“Lat year we had organised stir across all the gram panchayats demanding houses for homeless and had submitted applications for sites.
A Nodal officer was appointed to dispose the applications after reviewing at Gram Panchayat level.

But nothing happened later and none of the needy got the benefit. Till now 8,000 applications have been filed in this regard. As no action has been taken, we have decided to stage protest again. The protest will start from Vatadahosahalli Gram Panchayat” he added.
