<p>The work on a bridge across a stream in Giliyaru was started by the PWD under Nabard schemes about a year ago. However, the work has not seen any progress. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The bridge was aimed at providing connectivity between Bannadi and Gilyaru. <br /><br />The work on the bridge at an estimated cost of Rs 28 lakh was started in April,2011. Few pillars have been constructed and the work was stopped last July. <br /><br />Bannadi and Giliyaru are affected with flood every year. The work can not be carried out during monsoon as the stream overflows. <br /><br />“Mud has been dumped at the stream to facilitate the work. The mud will obstruct the flow of water during monsoon. If the mud is not removed, there are possibilities of artificial flood during rainy season. <br /><br />The authorities should at least provide connectivity between Giliyaru and Vaddarse by constructing a temporary road,” said residents. <br /><br />If the mud is not removed from the stream, a road which is situated nearby will be inundated during heavy rain. <br /><br />There was a small bridge which provided connectivity between Giliyaru and Vaddarse in the past. The bridge was used for crossing the stream. The villagers have urged the authorities</p>
