Retell, Remix, Rejoice!

Last Updated 10 May 2012, 12:50 IST

Do you love making up stories in your head? Here’s a chance for you to put those stories into a fully laid out, printed book.

Pratham Books has announced the ‘Retell, Remix and Rejoice’ competition. This is how the competition works: you choose images from the gallery that Pratham Books provides from its previous publications, add a story of your own to the images and send it in by email. You can apply in the ‘Above 16 years’ or ‘Below 16 years’ category, and send your story in English, Kannada, Hindi or Marathi. The first prize winner of each category gets their story fully laid out and printed.

Everyone loves a good story. By taking part in the competition, you can be a part of a gigantic story telling session. Every year, each individual storytelling session is linked to the others by a common theme that is decided by storytellers across the globe. The theme for this year is ‘Trees’, so don’t forget to make trees an important part of your story. The deadline for submitting your story is May 21. Email your entries to contest@prathambooks.org or info@prathambooks.org

Pratham Books releases a lot of its publications through a Creative Commons license. This means that you can reuse the stories and pictures for your own purposes, as long as you credit the author, the illustrator and Pratham Books. All the entries to the ‘Retell, Remix, Rejoice’ contest will also be released into the world on similar terms.

For more information on the competition, visit www.prathambooks.org.  You can also find the gallery of available images and last year’s winning entry on the website.
