Truck mows down senior citizen

A 70-year-old man was run over by a truck near the Balagere Junction on Varthur - Panattur Road, Whitefield on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, Muniswamappa, an agriculturist, was on his way to a nearby market on his bicycle when the accident occurred.

While he was crossing the road at the Balagere Junction, the speeding truck knocked him down.

A seriously injured Muniswamappa was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he breathed his last.

The driverof the truck fled the scene.

Baby found dead

A two-and-a-half-year-old baby was found drowned in a water pit in Vasanthapura on Thursday morning.

The residents of a nearby slum, next to Isckon hillock, discovered the body of the baby drowned in the four-foot pit.

It is suspected that the baby might have been washed away in heavy rain on Wednesday night. But even after repeated attempts, the police and the residents are not able to identify the body.
