K'taka cops did the job with clinical precision

Karnataka police conducted its entire operation with clinical precision in the arrest of Abdul Kafil.

For, there was ample scope of goof-ups and one slight error could have undone all the planning. Here are four such examples. First, such is the topography of the village Barh Samaila that chances are you may land elsewhere. Just within a radius of 10 kms of Keoti police station (under which the village falls) there is another village called Samaila.

So you have to be specific whether you want to go to Samaila or Barh Samaila. Secondly, before reaching the village which is nearly 200 km from Patna, there is a place called Hajipur Chowk in Darbhanga district. The name is similar to the one in Hajipur under Vaishali district.

You have to be specific whether you want to go to Hajipur Chowk in Hajipur or in Darbhanga. Thirdly, and more confusing, was Barh Samaila. Because one Barh is 80 km east of Patna, while Barh Samaila is 200 km north of Patna.

Kafil Akhtar, arrested earlier this week, is the name similar to that of Md Kafeel, who was apprehended in February. While Kafil was doing his post graduation in Urdu, Kafeel was a cycle mechanic. Incidentally, both used to stay in Barh Samaila. Both were not only neighbours, but distant relative too. But apparently, Karnataka police made no mistakes and double cross-checked the facts before blowing the lid off.
