Army personnel's wife commits suicide

A 25-year-old woman allegedly hanged herself at her house in Delhi Cantonment in south-west Delhi on Tuesday, police said.

The deceased, Divya Nair, a native of Kerala, was living with her husband havildar SVS Nair and two children at Shekhawat Lane.  “Her husband reported the incident after he found her hanging at 7.15 am,” a senior police official said.

Police have sent the body to Safdarjung Hospital for post-mortem.

“We were told that she had been suffering from a health problem and was depressed. Her parents in Kerala have been informed about the incident,” the official added.

Police said her husband worked night shift timing and was away on duty when she killed herself.

It appears to be a case of suicide, police said. They are investigating the matter under section 176 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Since she died within seven years of marriage, a sub-divisional magistrate probe has also been launched.

Man kills self

In a separate incident, a 30-year-old man committed suicide in Krishna Nagar in east Delhi. Police said he was depressed after he lost one of his legs in a train accident some days ago. Prem Sagar was found hanging at his house at 7 am on Tuesday.

“He had met with an accident near Shahabad railway station a few days ago and had lost a leg. He apparently committed suicide as he was unable to cope with the circumstances,” a police official said.
