A private complaint was filed in the Special Lokayukta Court on Monday against Chikmagalur BJP MLA C T Ravi, accusing him of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The Court has posted the matters to June 4 for orders.

The complainant A C Kumar, a resident of Chikmagalur has alleged that Ravi, who is serving his second tenure as an MLA, has not accurately disclosed the details of assets and liabilities to the Election Commission and to the Lokayukta.

Kumar stated that there are unaccounted assets amounting to Rs 2.54 crore. Kumar has alleged that Ravi possesses assets to the tune of Rs 50 crore, according to the current day market value. Further, he has also alleged that Ravi also concealed the true amount of his assets and undervalued them. In 2007, Ravi had declared a bank deposit of Rs 78.25 lakh in one bank account, but this amount did not find mention in the subsequent declarations.

Kumar has maintained that Ravi has undervalued his home situated at Basavanahalli Main road in Chikmagalur and said that approximate value of the house exceeded Rs 6 crore. In 2011, Ravi had declared its worth as Rs 63.90 lakh.

This is the second complaint filed against the MLA. Another complaint had been filed earlier against him, accusing him and his family members of obtaining civic amenity sites in violation of bye laws. The complaint which was investigated by the Lokayukta police, held Ravi’s family responsible for violations, but cleared Ravi’s name from any wrongdoing. The Lokayukta Court has directed the police to conduct further investigation into the matter.
